International Door Controls (IDC) was created in 1963 by Dennis Jones. On his retirement, control of the business was passed to his son, Craig, and in 2005 the company was taken over by the present board of directors who run IDC today.
The door hardware and ironmongery specialists are a team of experienced and long-term staff, situated in the heart of the West Midlands, who work effectively together to meet their goal of supplying quality products at competitive prices.

International Door Controls were looking to switch software because of its legacy software's efficiency and reliability concerns. The company was looking to modernise its software and business operations to stay competitive in the industry.
IDC's Director, Derek Hart, comments: "We had a bespoke system from the 1980s which had proven reliable over the years, but because of its age, we became increasingly concerned about the potential failure of the hardware. The limitations of the software had also become an issue as it was not compatible with ‘modern' requirements, such as the ability to email documents and output data to Excel.
"We wanted to move to a new system so we would have the confidence that in the event of a failure, we could access support to minimise any disruption to the running of the business. We were also looking for a system that would make our daily business processes more efficient and effective."
In order to continue to meet the needs of their customers and efficiently deliver quality service, International Door Controls we're looking for an ERP system that could connect all areas of their business and modernise their current processes, but they were also looking for a provider that could make the migration and data transfer, from their old legacy system easy and pain-free.
"We knew that because of the age and incompatibility of our old system that the data transfer would be an issue, and the prospect of manually setting up accounts and 4000 plus stock codes was daunting. However, OGL's expert staff knew they could transfer data from our old system.
"We were also aware of other companies in our sector who use OGL Software successfully in their business, which is why we believed the system would be the right fit for us."
IDC had a few common concerns over switching to a new software including data transfers and managing the change of a new system: "Our team have many years of experience with our old software and we were aware that there was going to be a considerable learning process.
"However, the project management and training provided by OGL was well organised and took place over an adequate time scale. We were provided with test company data on the new server well ahead of go live which gave the staff time to become familiar and proficient in OGL Software to fulfil their particular function.
"We felt well prepared for go live but it was also great to have the support of our Training Consultant on site with us for the first couple of days to get used to the new system.
"Inevitably, there were a few occasions, after Go Live, where we required input from Software Support, but queries were quickly dealt with to avoid any impact on the business during the completion of the learning phase."
