After dealing with limitations in their previous software that had been designed around their needs, Commercial Director, Mark Ashworth recognised the business needed to invest in new technology to support their business growth. Mark reviewed a variety of ERP systems in the market before selecting OGL Software’s Profit4 solution.
Running a busy electrical wholesale business requires visibility and automation over stock management, purchasing, invoicing, analytics and more. Profit4 is able to handle all of these tasks, allowing Mark to focus on growing the business. Overall, the functionality and features of Profit4 have allowed ABM Electrical to save money, become more efficient and develop into different markets.
Mark commented: “Our stock control was really poor. We had a lot of cash tied up in stock that we weren't managing well. We were buying all the time and had a lot of obsolete stock, which created a lot of waste in the business. However, since going live on Profit4, we have been able to get our stock control in order and reduced our stock holding down at any one time by about £100,000 a month. This freed a lot of cash that enabled us to reinvest elsewhere into the business and grow.”
In addition to helping ABM Electrical’s team get on top of their stock control, using an ERP solution designed for their industry has enabled ABM to realise significant time savings across all areas of the business, particularly in invoicing. Previously, it was a full-time job to process over 1,000 invoices a month, but now the team only spends around 20-30 minutes a day on this task.
Mark concluded: “The way the system works for our business we are now set up for further future growth and are considering expanding to multiple branches. Additionally, we plan to introduce our B2B customers onto our digital platform and are excited to start using Profit4's new warehouse management feature in our daily business operations.”
