Do you sell to EU customers online?

Unless you are registered for VAT in an EU member state, export orders to an EU member state that are invoiced on or after the 1 January 2021 will no longer be subject to UK VAT rates (buyers may have to pay import VAT to the importer when the goods enter the EU country).

Due to these changes, we are amending eShop websites to implement the zero-rate VAT on exports to the EU. As the changes apply based on the invoice date rather than the order date, you need to ensure that any payments on the website are charged with the correct VAT rate based on when they are going to be invoiced.

Therefore, if you're likely to receive orders through your eCommerce website from EU customers, prior to the 1 January 2021, please advise the last date in 2020 that you will be generating invoices so that the zero-rate VAT changes can be configured to apply following that date.

If you're not sure if the changes apply to your eShop website, please get in touch with our Web Services Team at webservices@ogl.co.uk and they'll be able to guide you.
