July 2019's charity of the month was proposed by our Software Delivery Manager, Philip Baker-Clarke.
This year we're holding monthly dress down days in support of staff-nominated charities. We asked staff to choose charities for us to support that are personal and close to their hearts. We were inundated with a wide range of nominations, so eventually the final 12 charities were chosen from a random draw.
July's dress down day was held in support of MAMA Academy, a charity that empowers maternity professionals and expectant parents on stillbirth prevention methods to help more babies arrive safely. We are delighted to have raised £242 in support of this really important work!
The charity was proposed by our Software Delivery Manager Philip Baker-Clarke.
Phil said: "MAMA Academy has been helping to save babies lives since 2012. Sadly, the UK has one of the highest stillbirth rates in the developed world with the majority of deaths potentially preventable. Their vision is for there to be no more preventable stillbirths in the UK.
"Since MAMA Academy was launched, the number of stillbirths began a significant decline for the first time in 20 years. They remain committed to seeing a continuous decline in stillbirth and neonatal death rates by empowering maternity professionals and informing expectant parents about stillbirth prevention methods to help more babies arrive safely.
"Thank you for your kind donations. Being a small charity means that all funds received can go directly towards saving future little lives."
