A huge congratulations to Helen Cassell who recently celebrated her 25-year Long Service milestone.
We caught up with Helen to find out more about her time at OGL so far:
"25 years at OGL – Wow! Where has the time gone?
My roles over the last 25 years have been varied. I started as an Administrator & Scheduler in the Technical Department, before joining the Software Department in 2003 as Administrator for the Account Management team. After a few years, I moved to Training/Installations Administrator, then it was Linux Team Leader, Linux & Web Support Manager, Web Services Project Leader and today I am Infrastructure Manager.
Managers and the Directors over the last 25 years have allowed me so many opportunities at OGL - which I’m very grateful for and I sincerely appreciate their belief in me. I have enjoyed every role and challenge I have undertaken, but the team I have returned to the most often has been the Linux team (now Infrastructure). They can’t get rid of me! 😊
When I look back on my different roles, what stands out most are the people I’ve worked with. Some have moved on to new jobs, and we’ve sadly lost a few cherished colleagues along the way (Andy Neilson is still spoken of by those in the Infrastructure team who were lucky enough to work with him), but I’m pleased to say there are many who are still working at OGL; Sharon, Debbie, Andrew, Matthew, just to name a few. Then we have those who have joined more recently (recent to me being less that 5 years 😉- all of whom bring a fresh energy to the work environment.
It might be cliched, but it doesn’t make it any less true, it really is the people you work with that make the job enjoyable!

Helen's manager, Charlie Grant, commented: "Can you believe it’s been 25 years since Helen first joined OGL Software? Throughout her time here, Helen has worn many hats – from Administrator, Coordinator, and Project Leader to Team Leader and now Infrastructure Manager – playing a crucial role in keeping both our internal and customer systems running smoothly.
In her current role, Helen leads our Infrastructure Team, ensuring that internal IT operations and Linux installations are executed with precision. Her ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects is second to none. Just last year, she played a key role in delivering over 100 installations, ranging from prof.ITplus server upgrades to new Profit4 implementations. Helen’s commitment to quality ensures that our engineers are supported and that our systems remain robust and well-maintained.
Beyond managing Installations and the Internal Infrastructure, Helen plays a key role in supporting our customers, often responding to urgent and critical situations to ensure her team provide the help they need when it matters most. Her experience and dedication make a huge difference in keeping our customers’ businesses running smoothly.
A true OGL legend, and a professional through and through, Helen is known for her work ethic, dedication, and reliability. Often staying late to see things through long after others have gone home! Her likeable character and determination to get things done make her an invaluable member of the team.
Having worked alongside Helen for over 17 years, I’ve seen first hand her drive to succeed and her unwavering focus on delivering results. OGL Software is incredibly lucky to have her, and we’re thrilled to celebrate her 25 years of loyalty and dedication.
